IPRally's projects allow you to organize multiple searches inside a single Project and manage their metadata like document Relevance, Ask AI and Smart Filters questions and answer and Comments in a separate environment, without "contaminating" the whole database.

Projects

  • Can hold multiple Search cases of different types

  • Allow flagging documents as Relevant using a three-level grade, or Ignored. Relevance/Ignored flags will be shown everywhere inside the Project, whenever the same document or its family member is listed.

  • Limit visibility of Ask AI, Smart filters and Comments metadata both ways:

    • The metadata given inside a Project is not visible outside the Project.

    • You also not see metadata added outside a particular Project within that Project.

Note:
- As regards Ask AI and Comments, think of Projects as a micro-environment inside IPRally, helping you to limit the amount of irrelevant metadata and context.
- A fresh Project is always free of Ask AI and Comments data that is visible outside the Project.
- Ask AI question and answers and Comments made inside a Project will be kept inside the Project only.

Projects are ideal for larger search tasks that require iteration and using multiple searches and search methods.

Note: You can still create quick individual Search cases outside of Projects. Individual Search cases can be added to a Project also later.

Projects on the Home page

Home page view with Sidebar

You can create new Projects using the + NEW button or open existing Projects Projects section on the Sidebar components. When making a search, you can also decide to add it to an existing Project or create a new Project on the fly.

Creation of a new Project from Sidebar:

Besides creating new individual Search cases or Collection, also Projects can be created easily from the sidebar.

Adding a search to a Project at search time

When making a search, you will be given an option to add it into a Project.

Inside Projects

Projects Overview page

A fresh Projects Overview page provides easy ways to edit the project details, launch new searches inside the Project, or add existing Search cases to the Project.

All Search cases of a Project are listed in the Overview tab.

New Search page

The new search page resembles IPRally's Home view but has a tabbed structure for the different search methods.

Add existing Search case drawer

You can easily add multiple existing search cases found outside of Projects into the project.

Note 1: Currently monitored or shared Search cases cannot be added. Added projects also cannot be moved back or between different Projects.

Note 2: A new Project is always a "clean table" from Ask AI and Comments Documents inside a Project will not inherit the Ask AI or Comments data that is visible Projects even when added

Relevance tracking

Setting Relevance

Setting, changing and viewing document's Relevance is simple and intuitive.

Whenever you see the same document or one of its family members inside the same Project, you will also see it's Relevance.

Note: You will also find the option to include Relevance flags in Exports.

You still have the option to flag documents as Favorites using the heart icon and track the read status using the document icon. Favorites can therefore be used for Zoom to Favorites purposes.

Note: Favorite and Read statuses are Search case specific and NOT shared accross the Project.

Filtering by Relevance

The Relevance menu in tha Actions bar allow you to see and hide Relevant/Ignored documents in any combination. In search cases.

By default, Ignored documents are filtered out (toggle OFF), whereby you won't see uninteresting documents all over again.

Relevant and Ignored tabs

On the Overview page that opens when (re-)opening a Project, you can find Relevant Documents and Ignored documents tabs, where those documents are collected, respectively.

Other features in Projects

In most other ways, Projects provide the same functionalities as IPRally in general. This applies to features inside Search cases, Exports,

Limitations of and features not (yet) available in Projects

These features are not yet available in the current version of Projects:

  1. Ability to create in-project Collections

    • However, you can create Collections outside Projects even from inside a Project

    • In-project Collections are a highly likely feature add-on in the future.

  2. Ability to share a Project

    • We plan to make sharing available so that multiple users can contribute to and/or comment on results and/or view a Project

  3. Smart(er) dataset actions and views

    • For example combining searches and Collections inside a Project would often be valuable.

  4. Project-level Tags

  5. Project-level statistics / analytics

  6. Sharing an individual Search case or starting Monitoring inside a project, or importing such Search cases

These and many other improvements are possible on the foundation formed by Projects. Users feedback is valuable for prioritizing the upcoming development efforts!
