  1. Define the technology of interest in graph format. You can start with any of the three search options, the most typical being free text and graph builder options.

  2. Run an initial search

  3. In the filters,

    1. select/deselect the geographies of interest in Data sources,

    2. select Search in CLAIMS ONLY and

    3. set Legal status to ACTIVE and UNKNOWN.

Then just press “Search patents” again.

Voilá, the AI compares the technology of interest to the claims of active (or potentially active) patents and patent applications in the selected geographies and you get a list of patent families whose scope is worth checking more closely!

In addition, under "View options" you can choose to see the First claim in the expanded result list instead of the abstract. This will help you scan the results quicker.
