How to get access to Drafting

How company admins enable Drafting, and what users need to start drafting.

Written by Sakari Arvela

Drafting is part of your company's IPRally subscription. Each person who drafts needs a Drafting seat.

For company admins

  1. Get the Drafting module. Your company's subscription must include the Drafting module, either as a paid subscription or a trial. Contact your IPRally account manager to add it. Trials are available.

  2. Check your seats. The Subscription page in the settings shows your Drafting module and how many Drafting seats it includes.

  3. Give users access. In Users & Roles, turn on the Drafting permission for each user who should draft. Only users with a Professional or Collaborator license can hold a Drafting seat.

For users

  1. Open Protection from the main sidebar. You'll be taken to the new draft creation screen right away.

  2. If Drafting isn't available to you, the page tells you why. Ask your company admin to give you the Drafting permission, or to check that your company has the Drafting module.

Everyone can open Protection and see existing drafts. Starting and editing drafts needs the Drafting permission.

Next: see Drafting manual for how to plan, write and export your first draft.
